What is TrainedByJP's Estro Control?

TrainedByJP Estro Control is a food supplement in vegetable capsules, sold in a bottle of 60 capsules for a once-daily dose — that is, two months' use. It is formulated around two compounds derived from cruciferous vegetables: indole-3-carbinol, abbreviated to I3C, and diindolylmethane, abbreviated to DIM. The second is a transformation product of the first in the stomach.

The formula is a short one: I3C, DIM, broccoli extract (Brassica oleracea) and black pepper extract (Piper nigrum) standardised for piperine. To these are added the hypromellose vegetable capsule and two anti-caking agents, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. Black pepper plays the same role here as it does in turmeric-based formulas: DIM and I3C are fat-soluble, and piperine is added to limit how quickly they are eliminated.

What does a capsule of Estro Control contain?

We have to be frank here, and the table below is unlike any other on this site.

No dose is published for any of the four active ingredients in this formula in the data available to us. We will not invent them, and we will not repeat figures found elsewhere. This is the most serious limitation of the product: without milligrams, no comparison with another brand is possible, and you cannot know whether you are taking 100 mg or 300 mg of DIM. Dose: 1 capsule a day, without exceeding the recommended daily dose. Liquid: a glass of water. Timing: with a meal containing fat, at any point in the day. Frequency: one dose daily. Duration: the manufacturer recommends a course of 8 to 12 weeks; beyond 12 consecutive weeks, consult a healthcare professional.

The instruction about a fatty meal is not decorative. DIM and I3C are fat-soluble: taken on an empty stomach or with a salad, part of the capsule serves no purpose. A normally composed meal is enough — some eggs, some fish, a drizzle of olive oil.

One precaution worth repeating: if you are taking other medicines, leave several hours between doses. The manufacturer asks for this explicitly, and the presence of piperine, which alters the liver metabolism of many molecules, justifies that caution. The manufacturer also mentions that this supplement can be combined with calcium D-glucarate.

Stop taking it and seek advice if you notice joint pain, hot flushes or mood changes after starting supplementation.

Who is Estro Control for, and who is it not for?

The list of situations in which this product is not suitable is a long one, and it is the most important part of this page.

Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a healthcare professional if you are trying to conceive. In cases of liver disorders, medical advice is mandatory before use, and you must stop immediately at any liver symptom: jaundice, abdominal pain, dark urine, unusual nausea. Do not use without medical advice in cases of gallstones or bile duct obstruction. In cases of stomach ulcer or excess acidity, caution is required.

Drug interactions deserve particular attention: the manufacturer cites medicines metabolised by the liver, oral contraceptives, tamoxifen and hormone treatments. That is not a trivial list — if any of them appears on your prescription, the question is one for your doctor, not for a product page.

Two further points. This supplement may interfere with iron absorption: if you are deficient or supplementing, take that into account and leave a gap between doses and your iron intake. And if you show signs of low oestrogen — joint pain, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, irregular periods — medical advice is required before any use. Finally, the manufacturer refers you to the official labelling for the full allergen list, which we have not been able to verify here.

Estro Control or a ZMA?

These two products are often bought for similar reasons. Yet they do not have remotely the same regulatory status, and that is the criterion that ought to settle it.

A ZMA combines zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. It has one decisive advantage: zinc benefits from a claim authorised under European regulations — it contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood, provided the product supplies at least 15 % of the NRV. That is a validated wording, with a quantified threshold, and you can check on the label that the product reaches it. Magnesium also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal muscle function. If you want a product whose effect is recognised by the European framework and whose doses are verifiable, that is the one to take.

Estro Control is on different ground. It supplies no mineral, claims no authorised health claim, and its doses are not published. What it does supply is a combination of cruciferous compounds that is hard to obtain other than by eating a lot of broccoli, in a format that is simple to keep up over two months. It is a choice for an informed user, not a first purchase.
