What is IO Genix Fortigel Collagen?
IO Genix Fortigel Collagen is a joint-support powder sold in a 320 g tub, i.e. 40 servings of 8 g. This is not a plain collagen: it is a compound formula, in which collagen is merely the main ingredient.

Only two ingredients come with figures: the collagen and the vitamin C. The other eight appear on the list with no dosage in the data available to us. That is this label's main shortcoming, and it has a direct consequence: there is no way to check whether the magnesium, the calcium and the vitamin D reach the thresholds that would permit a health claim, nor to compare the glucosamine with a dedicated product. We will not paper over those gaps.
What can be checked, on the other hand, is solid. 5 g of Fortigel® collagen peptides matches the dosage used in the work published by the raw material's manufacturer; it is the usual benchmark for this range, and plenty of competing products drop to 2.5 g. And the 177 mg of vitamin C, i.e. 221% of the NRV, unlocks the only claim genuinely available here: vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage, bones and skin. How do you prepare Fortigel Collagen?
Dose: 8 g a day, i.e. 2 scoops, raised to 12 g in cases of pain or a heavy training load. Liquid: 200 to 250 ml of water or the drink of your choice. Timing: in the morning on an empty stomach, or after training. Frequency: one serving a day. Duration: the manufacturer recommends a course of at least 3 months.
That last point is the most important, and it needs hearing before you buy: three months minimum. A tub of 40 servings covers less than six weeks at one serving a day — so reckon on two to three tubs for a full course. No one should let you believe that a single tub will be enough to judge the product.

It costs less, its list is shorter, and if collagen is what you are after, it is the more rational calculation. Fortigel Collagen is justified if you were going to take several joint supplements anyway. Assembling glucosamine, MSM, hyaluronic acid, devil's claw and boswellia across five separate bottles would cost appreciably more and mean five doses a day. The trade-off is the one we flagged: with no published dosages for those eight ingredients, you are buying a composition, not verifiable quantities. 800 mg of N-acetylglucosamine a day is a straightforward dose for this form. Many joint complexes on the market state less, or state nothing at all and simply refer to a “patented complex” whose composition remains opaque. Chondroitin at 200 mg, on the other hand, is a supporting dose rather than a headline one: the published protocols on this molecule generally work at higher levels, and it is more honest to say so than to suggest otherwise.
Devil's claw at 600 mg of dry extract is the most heavily dosed active in the formula after glucosamine. It is a southern African root, traditionally used, whose dry extract concentrates the harpagosides. The manufacturer does not publish a harpagoside content for this product — that is a figure we do not have, and we would rather write it down than borrow a number found elsewhere.

What sets this product apart is its format as much as its formula. Joint complexes are almost always sold as capsules, at two to four a day. Of the nine quantified actives, only two carry claims authorised in Europe, and that has to be said up front. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage and bones, and zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. Those are the official wordings, and the 80 mg of vitamin C and the 10 mg of zinc each cover 100% of the nutrient reference value, which is amply enough to qualify.
For everything else — glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, boswellia, cissus, curcumin, glycine — no health claim is authorised at European level. These are ingredients cleared for sale, described here for what they are, but nothing can be promised for them. A seller who tells you that glucosamine rebuilds cartilage has stepped outside the rules.
Now let us look at the doses without flinching, because that is where this product sits. The published protocols on glucosamine use 1,500 mg a day, and 1,200 mg for chondroitin. Here you are at 500 mg and 400 mg, roughly a third in both cases. MSM, at 300 mg, is also well below the amounts usually studied. These three actives are therefore present at supporting doses, not at reference doses.
Conversely, the 5 g of glycine is a straightforward dose, and curcumin at 150 mg is respectable for an extract.
